Latest figures show that middle-income parents with two children will spend more than $500,000 on them by the time they hit the age of 21.

When you see something you want, try and think about it rationally rather than emotionally. Do you really need it? What else could the money do for you?
Car pool or take public transport if possible.
If you currently use several credit cards, consider doing away with all but one and pay off the balance each month. You can save hundreds, even thousands, of dollars a year by avoiding credit card interest charges.
